We too easily grow weary
Too quickly feel heavy
Too rapidly despair
We need kind witness to the self-sacrifice in our daily endeavours
We need knowing recognition of the courage with which we toil on
We need loving perception of the constant devoted effort of it all
We need the nursemaid that tends our tired bodies
We need the midwife that delivers us back to ourselves
We need permission to rest, recover, repair
We need a lover’s gentle reception
We need their body as safe haven and cradle
We need gentle caresses that lull us to slumber
From hands that sing lullabies as they travel across us
